The Labor faction led by Julius Abure said it is planning to investigate Abia Governor, Alex Otti and other party members on suspicion of anti-party activities.
This is because the faction has now set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the allegations.
This was disclosed in a communiqué released after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Friday.

The communiqué said: “The NEC reviewed the anti-party activities of Governor Alex Otti, Governor Abia” and other members who were wrong and thus formed a disciplinary committee.
The committee chaired by Ayo Olorunfemi was granted two weeks to submit the report.
The NEC, led by ABURE, also praised the Supreme Court’s ruling on the party’s leadership issue, which, according to him, directly set a record on the matter.
In praising the National Working Committee for Abure’s leadership, the NEC agreed that the LP will not become any alliance or merger party in the 2027 election because it will not surrender its leadership with any methodical obligation.
“The NEC confirmed its directive to issue the Notice of the National Congress for 2024, which notified INEC on April 12, 2023. The NEC also confirmed its notice of the date and location of the 2024 National Congress held at NNEWI on 27/03/2024.
The NEC confirmed its list of Adhoc delegates elected from 36 states and FCT to the 2024 National Congress, which was approved at the NEC meeting held in Asaba on 20/03/2024.
“The NEC confirmed that the National Congress of 2024 is an LP guide for the National Congress of 2024 under CFRN, the Election Act of 1999, 2022, the 2019 LP Constitution, the INEC Constitution, the INEC Regulations and Party Guidelines, 2022, and the 2024 National Delegation.
“The NEC confirms the effectiveness of the 2024 National Congress and depends on its results,” the communiqué reads in part.
