The famous chief of All Progressive Assembly (APC) and former House Member Ifeanyi Ibezi has officially announced his departure from the party.
Ibezi, who represented the IDEMILI Northern and Yugoslavia constituencies on behalf of the Ninth National Assembly, announced his support for the re-election of Anambra Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
Naija News The report said he made the announcement at a meeting of political partners at his rural residence in Abatt, the northern government area of Idemili on Sunday.
The former legal maker attributed his decision to keep the APC in the results of the party’s gubernatorial primary election, which made Prince Nicholas ukachukwu the APC flag bearer of Anambra State University.
Ibetz described the main process as “charm”, accusing the party of failing to play a credible and optional candidate. He expressed frustration with the leadership of the APC and pointed out that the party was not serious about governance or election victory.
“I will support the conversion to Governor Sorudo,” Ibez announced that his support stemmed from Anambra’s desire for progress and development.
He continues “Like I delivered Idemili North and Southern to President Bola Tinubu in 2023 and delivered to Soludo in the last election, I will mobilize the votes again in November to ensure Soludo’s victory.”
Ibezi, who had previously supported APC candidates in past elections, was disappointed with the party’s performance and vowed to continue to support Soludo.
He said “Soludo has to go back to the second semester. I visited his project and I firmly believe he is working. What would you do if your party is not ready to win? You keep moving forward. I can’t be part of a party that doesn’t understand governance and victory.”
In his speech to his followers, Ibiz insists that any loyalist who cannot understand the change in his political allegiance “There is a lack of a basic understanding of politics.”
He emphasized his commitment to Sorudo, and explained that “Our support for Soludo is all and direct. APC is not ready and we won’t waste time.”
Ibiz’s defection was growing dissatisfied within the APC after the withdrawal of three outstanding governors’ aspiring men. Obiora Okonkwo, Sir Paul Chukwuma and Chukwuma Umeoji – a few hours before the party hour.
The three argued that the violations, violence by some aspiring supporters and manipulation of the process were the reasons for the evacuation.
Okonkwo explained in a statement that he could not risk his supporters’ lives as a “manipulated junior”, while Chukwuma condemned the process to be hijacked by “reverse forces.”
