    APC NEC Approves the Division of Presidents to the Northwest

    • The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Progressive Congress (APC) approved the zoning of the party’s post of President in the Northwest Territories.
    • The party’s national propaganda minister Felix Morka announced the decision after Wednesday’s NEC meeting.
    • The position was initially divided into the central northern part, but the internal party crisis led to the resignation of former chairman Senator Abdulahi Adamu.

    The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Progressive Congress (APC) approved the zoning of the party’s post of President in the Northwest Territories.

    The party’s national propaganda minister Felix Morka announced the decision after Wednesday’s NEC meeting.

    According to Morka, “NEC has approved the division of state presidential positions in the Northwest.” The position was initially divided into the central northern part, which led to Senator Abdulahi Adamu becoming the party’s chairman.

    However, the internal partisan crisis led to the resignation of Adamu and former state secretary Iyiola Omisore.

    After the two resigned, former governor of Kano State Dr. Abdulahi Adamu served as chairman and Senator Ajibola Basiru served as secretary.

    In addition, the NEC formed a seven-member committee of Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni to bring more members to the party’s NEC.

    In the Kano State Branch (APC) of the National Progress Conference (APC), the Secretary of State for Housing, Yusuf Abdullahi Atta and APC President Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje are fighting fiercely in the post of President of the State.

    Current Chairman Abdullahi Abbas is seeking to continue his fourth term in office, a move that has been strongly opposed by Atta.
