Gatti reportedly was nicknamed El Loco or “Madman” because of his outspoken role and style of play, and was reportedly sick after a recent hip surgery.
According to the Sun, the anterior plug is in intensive care after suffering from pneumonia. The report said Gatti was operated after being injured in the fall while walking the dog.
Gatti has made more than 350 appearances for the Argentine giant Boca junior and is considered the first goalkeeper to wear gloves.
He was part of the Argentine side of the Argentine team who participated in the 1966 World Cup in England and made 18 appearances in three matches.
