
Arsenal has confirmed that Gabriel Magalhães will need surgery on the injured hamstring and will miss the rest of the season before the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid.
The Brazilian defender beat Fulham on Tuesday after 16 minutes after Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Fulham, Mikel Arteta said after the game that the player “feeled something in his hamstrings”. Gabriel was sent to scan Wednesday.
“We can confirm that Gabriel Magalhães suffered a hamstring injury and needed surgery,” Arsenal’s statement said.
“Gabbi will undergo surgical repair procedures for the hamstrings in the coming days and begins rehabilitation and rehabilitation programs immediately in preparation for the start of next season.”
Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s outstanding performers this season, and his absence has left Arteta with major problems ahead of Saturday’s Premier League and Tuesday’s match in Madrid.
