Hero football coach Arsene Wenger calls on Man United or Tottenham Hotspur next season to be stripped of the Champions League place, even if they win the Europa League.
United and Spurs will meet in Bilbao’s final on May 21 as he secured a general clue to the tie’s second season in the semi-finals this week.
Ruben Amorim’s side beat Bilbao 3-0, while the Spurs beat the Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt 3-1, taking a step forward in their first trophy since 2008.
However, both clubs can now end outside the Premier League’s European qualifying range, with Manchester United ranked 15th and Spurs ranked 16th.
UEFA changed the rules in 2014 to allow Europa League winners to qualify for the Champions League, but Wenger thought it was “not right”.
Former Arsenal boss Wenger told Bein Sports: ‘No. They should automatically participate in the Europa League, but they don’t have to participate in the Champions League.
Especially when you are in the Premier League, there are already five teams that qualify.
“What do I think this is [for UEFA] Think and review.
“On the other hand, people will tell you that to keep the Europa League focused, fun and motivated, you need to give them this award [Champions League]. ‘
