It was an exciting day for Paul Pogba, who signed a two-year contract with Monaco and shed tears as he signed a new deal.
The former Manchester United player has withdrawn from football over the past two years. He was temporarily suspended after a random test after Juventus’ opening game against Udinese.
The French international then received a four-year ban, which was cut to 18 months in October 2024 after appeals. Pogba, who was crying, thanked everyone in Monaco for believing him.
He said
“Thank you for your trust”, after writing the pen on the Monaco deal, and Hia’s own announcement video, with the word “La Renaissance”.
Pogba started at Manchester United before moving to Juventus, where he won Serie A in each of his first four seasons. He then returned to Old Trafford for £89 million in 2016, winning the Europa League and the FA Cup in his first season.
He is also an important part of the French team, winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia. Monaco supporters will hope he can help them qualify for Ligue 1 or qualify for the 2026/27 European Champions League season.
