The recent revelation is that the report of the PDP Committee of the People’s Democratic Party on choosing a running partner during the presidential election held in 2023 is favoring the Federal Capital Territory Minister FCT, NYESOM WIKE, NYESOM WIKE, former governor of the Triangle State Ifeanyi Okowa, he caused new controversy.
FCT Minister Mr. Lere Olayinka reopened the controversy.
The report was signed by former PDP President Iyorchia Ayu, other political party leaders, and dated June 14, 2022.
It is tagged as a “report of the advisory committee that chooses a presidential campaign partner.”
The report reads: “The Advisory Committee for the Selection of Presidential Campaign Partners met today at the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja.
“The committee unanimously recommends that the three names of presidential candidates be considered in the following order of priority: Governor Nyesom Wike, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Governor Emmanuel Udom.
The committee’s decision was taken after taking into account the greater interests of the party. The committee thanked the party for its opportunity to provide services. ”
Report. Mohammed, Olusugugus Mumko, Senator Adolphus Ward, Senator David Mark and Rt. honor. Oluwole Oke.
Others join Senator liyll imagine, hon. Theophilus Dacast Shan, Dr. Samuel Ortom, Amb. Taopheek Arapaja, Professor Stella Efffers-Attoe, Haj. In Maryam Circma, Dr. More Babida Aliu, Sule Lamido, .Sen. Philip T. Aduda and Senator Samuel Anyanw.
This goes against the claims of PDP’s former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, that the committee chose Okowa before Wike and Udom.
In an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie, Atiku said he left the decision to pick his running partner to the then-PDP leader to make the decision.
According to Atiku, “They said that when I chose Peter Obi as my running companion, I didn’t have extensive consultations in 2019, so in 2023 I told the party to form a committee and recommend three names.”
Atiku said he chose Okowa as his running mate because the committee formed by the PDP chose presidential campaign partner for the 2023 election “ranked Okowa the highest and second in second place, with former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel third. So I chose the first place.”
Wike’s senior special assistant in public communications and social media responded that Olayinka said Atiku needed to view the report and seek forgiveness for lying during Ramadan.
In a chat with the daily post, Oleinka said: “Someone needs to show this to atiku so that he can seek forgiveness from (Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala) before the end of Ramadan.
“This is the report of the committee.
“Imagine that Atiku can’t even commemorate the holy month of Ramadan and keep the lie until the end of the fasting period.
“Now you know why Attiku can’t be trusted.
Reaction, Attiku’s media office described Olekin’s comments as emotional outbursts.
It insists that Atiku has no apology to choose Okowa as his campaign partner before Wike in 2023.
A statement from the Atiku Media Office said Okowa’s choice was based on a combination of intelligence, calmness and politicians.
The statement said: “The attention of the Attiku Media Office was drawn to another emotional outbreak, a press statement disguised as a camp of ministers in the Federal Capital Territory, published by his assistant, Lere Olayinka.
“While we know bitterness is often found in misplaced aggression, we must remind Vick and his team that painstakingly do not have the capacity to be charitable and will not inspire unity, healing or truth.
“Again, the facts are twisted in desperate attempts to rewrite history. Mr. Vick claimed through a spokesperson that he had 13 votes from the committee to recommend a vice presidential campaign partner, while Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa only had two.
“Let us be clear: the rules or laws regarding the selection process of campaign partners, consultation and advice are essentially consultative. The final decision is only comparable to the presidential candidate, in this case Atiku Abubakar. It is a constitutional and strategic choice, not a universal race.
“Assuming, but not admitting that Vick has 13 votes, and Okowa has 2 votes – just like the university awards a degree “in study and character” – it must be asked: If the character scores zero, what are the votes?
“Leadership is not only about numbers; it is about temperament, dignity, and ability to unite. A person may boast about numbers, and those numbers are empty if his actions lack grace and humility.
“We do not apologize for choosing Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as a campaign partner in 2023. The decision is based on a combination of intelligence, calmness and politicians.
“Since becoming FCT Minister, Mr. Vick’s public conduct in Rivers has defended public conduct in Rivers, where he served as FCT Minister in Abuja, which shows that he is well aware of why he is not fit in the role of vice president in a unified air ticket, rather than split.
“We urge Mr. Vick and his social media spokespersons to resist the temptation to preach religious devotion during Ramadan and Lent while simultaneously expelling the flames of discord. Let us not reduce the divine period to the tools of trivial political sting.
“Rebuilding our political party and our country is a serious task. It is time to go beyond hurting ego and focus on what really matters: the future of Nigeria and the well-being of people.
