Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, known for his legal battle with music tycoon Diddy’s comb, is retreating from a dozen sex trafficking lawsuits filed against Diddy in the federal court in New York.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Buzbee has applied to withdraw 15 lawyers in the Southern District of New York (SDNY).
Buzbee cited his failure to obtain necessary recognition from SDNY practice laws, which is why he withdraws it. In a statement to U.S. District Court Judge Ronnie Abrams, Buzbee acknowledged that he had made a “judgment error” by not informing the court of lack of authorization in the area. He admitted that his acknowledgement of identity has become a distraction, shifting his attention beyond the victims involved in the case.
Despite Buzbee’s resignation, the lawsuit will continue. The so-called victims will now be represented by a law firm in New York. Buzbee clarified that his company is still involved in the case and he is still the attorney responsible for other lawsuits filed against Diddy in different states. He also said new lawsuits against tycoons are in the pipeline and plans to file lawsuits in Nevada and California.
Buzbee, a licensed attorney in the eastern New York area, claims his SDNY admission was delayed due to a complaint filed by rapper Jay-Z in an unrelated case. Although Buzzby’s withdrawal from these federal cases was a setback in the lawsuit against Didi, the legal struggle continued in various jurisdictions.
