Afrobeats’ sensation Ayra Starr was named the best international act on the renowned Mobo Awards, a British ceremony dedicated to recognizing the excellence of black music.
She won in a competitive category, surpassing notable nominees such as South African Amapiano star Tyla, American hip-hop heavyweights Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion and two-time Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Tems.
Starr’s victory came from a year of years, marked by the release of her sophomore albumThe year I was 21 years old.
She brought music to the global stage, toured extensively, and enjoyed the famous festival like Glastonbury.
This latest motherboard recognition further strengthens Starr’s rising position in the global music industry.
