The bandits demanded that n30m release the Quran?

The Katina state government has confirmed that the champion of the National Quran Recitation Competition, Abdulsalam Rabiu-Faskari, remained alive with his father and brother, but was still detained by the kidnappers. This was disclosed in a statement issued by Information and Culture Commissioner Dr. Bala Salisu-Zango on Friday, March 14.

Rabiu-Faskari and his family were honored by Governor Dikko Radda two days ago after a trip from Katsina to Faskari for his outstanding performance in the competition held in Kebbi. He will represent Nigeria in the international edition of the Quran.

Salisu-Zango addressed recent media reports and condolences, including statements from the media and publicity of the Special Adviser Governor Kebbi, which indicated that Rabiu-Faskari was killed by the kidnappers. He clarified that information from the Katina state government indicated that the victim was imprisoned.

As of Friday, March 14, the kidnappers demanded a family ransom. Governor Radda described the incident as an unfortunate incident and expressed solidarity with the victims and their loved ones. He assured that the government was taking the necessary steps to ensure its release and urged security agencies to strengthen their efforts to ensure their safe rescue.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges that plagued the country. He also called on residents to provide prayers for the safe return of Rabiu-Faskari and other captured by bandits.
