Bayern Munich has confirmed that its first player, Alphonso Davies, will be out “for several months” after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in his right knee.
The news was confirmed on Wednesday, March 25, 2025 on the official website of Bayern Munich. Alphonso Davies reportedly suffered damage in Canada’s 2-1 CONCACAF National League third-place playoffs, beating the United States on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
The 24-year-old signed a new five-year contract in February to end speculation that he moved to Real Madrid. Dayot Upamecano will also be phased out for weeks after solving knee problems with France’s international responsibilities.
“Unfortunately, there is always a risk of players returning to injury during international breaks – this time hitting us. Our team is strong and will make up for these absences. Now, we will work harder now. We have the quality to continue pursuing our big goals.”
Bayern ranked six points at the top of the Bundesliga with eight remaining games left, chasing the record 34th German champion. They will face Inter Milan in the Champions League quarterfinals, in the first leg in Munich on April 8.
