    • Ugandan musician Bebe Cool published an incident involving the arrest of Nigerian artists Tems and Omah in Kampala in the event in 2020.
    • The artist was detained during Uganda’s strict Covid-19-19 lockdown.
    • Bebe Cool denied being involved in the orchestration of his arrest.

Ugandan musician Bebe Cool talks about the controversial events in 2020, in which Nigerian artists Tems and Omah Lay were arrested after performing at a concert in Kampala amid the country’s strict Covid-19 lockdown.

In a recent interview, Bebe Cool denied any involvement in planning their detention and shared his account of the incident.

He explained that during the pandemic, Ugandan performers were banned from performing gigs due to government restrictions, and many were struggling financially.

However, facilitators were allowed to organize an event with no more than 200 people participating. The report shows that the concert ended up attracting more than 2,000 attendees, violating established restrictions.

Bebe Cool noted that his earlier tweets criticized the government for allowing foreign artists to perform, while local musicians are still banned from pushing for speculation that he plays a role in the arrest.

He clarified that he was not involved in the detention of Nigerian artists despite publicly questioning the fairness of the situation.

Bebe Cool also recounted receiving a call from Nigerian star Davido on the night of the arrest. Davido expressed concern and suspected that Bebe Cool might be involved.

The Ugandan singer assured Davido that his commitment would help ensure the artist’s release and deny any involvement in their detention. He revealed that he quietly contacted the officials and completed the necessary paperwork to ensure the release of Tems and Omah Lay the next morning.

@rifah4695: “He is lying, I remember he posted an article saying he has a reliable source, Nigerian artist will hold a concert in Uganda and he will make sure he will make the incident fail.”

@chantaaaalletio: “You created the problem and then tried to solve it and headed by the hero.”

@drkakanga: “Bebe Cool is a Ugandan government stooge who benefits from taxpayers’ money from other Uganda artists.

@sir_e_tumu: “David had to help in one way or other dem, most mentioning David’s name I love Davido Mehn very right guy.”

@agumemark: “My Rasta was crucified for no reason. His battle was effective. But the locals would rather fight than appreciate them. Unless they were gone.
