
President Bola Tinubu directed the Director of Service and Police Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun to launch a comprehensive operation to identify and prosecute those responsible for the recent attacks and killings in Benue.
The president communicated the directive during his June 18 visit to Benue State, in response to escalating violence in the north-central region.
“Police, I want your man to listen to the information with caution. Why wasn’t he arrested? I hope these criminals should be arrested.” Tinubu said at the stakeholder meeting at the Benur Government Building in the capital.
“Christopher (the Chief of Defence Staff), you have given much. I watch your comments, you can’t be tired of staying in the bush. Oloyede and the Air Marshal, we thank all of you, but we need to keep our ears to the ground, let’s get those criminals, let’s get them out. DG NIA, DG SSS, retool your information channels and let’s have tangible intelligence so that this will not occur again.” He said
