The family of Tartenger Terdue James from Benue State is in panic after they were abducted by suspected kidnappers five days before their scheduled wedding.
James was kidnapped on the evening of Tuesday, December 9, 2025, while on his way to Cross River State. He was reportedly going there to buy palm oil to celebrate his traditional wedding, scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 13, in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
Relatives confirmed that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 3 million won. The kidnappers threatened to kill James and dump his body on the roadside if payment was not made.
A relative named Charles Ayuwa confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Thursday, writing”, “My brother, His Excellency Tatenge Tedu James, it has been two days since you were kidnapped…May God protect you from the hands of your kidnappers and further hasten your release before your wedding this Saturday. Amen,”.
