Teddi Mellencamp faces serious legal trouble despite sympathy for her ongoing health struggle.
Her former butler Julia Umana sued the former “Real Housewife of Beverly Hills” star, who accused her of racial discrimination and abuse during her employment.
In the lawsuit, former nanny and housekeeper Umana (Umana) was granted a lawsuit claiming Mellencamp was worse than any other employee, accusing her of abuse of power, a brief salary and a hostile work environment. According to Umana, Mellencamp suffered racism, accusing her of theft (although the cameras were all in the house), and never made similar charges against white employees.
Umana, an immigrant from El Salvador, also claimed that Mellencamp laughed at her speaking Spanish and used a derogatory tone when talking to her, which she said was never targeted at white workers. .
The lawsuit details how Umana finally decided to resign, but Mellencamp is under pressure at just $325 and requires three 12-hour shifts. After complaining about her salary, Umana claimed she was fired without notice.
Now, Umana is seeking more than $2 million in damages, alleging unlawful firing and unpaid wages. Mellencamp has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit.
