
After colliding with a moving truck in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, undetermined cyclists have d! ed. The Lagos State Transport Authority (Lastma) confirmed the accident in a statement on Sunday in Lagos’s general manager Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki.
According to Bakare-Oki, the tragic accident involved a cyclist and a loaded truck (registration number BDG 610 YA). It takes place at the Alausa bus stop near the “broadcast” of Kudirat Abiola Way in Ikeja.
“Preliminary investigations show that cyclists collided with trucks on Obafemi Awolowo Way while trying to perform a maneuver from Kudirat Abiola Way.
In the process, he lost control and hit the sidewalk, immediately dead due to fatal injury. Witnesses say cyclists are using headphones to talk on the phone, which leads to focus on busy highways.
Lastma operators arrived quickly to ensure that the area ensures safety of other road users and maintain traffic flow.
The officer from the Alausa Police Department received the notice and responded quickly to the scene.
While managing traffic around the scene of the accident, Lastma officials handed over the body of the deceased to police, who transported the body to the morgue of the general hospital in Ikeja. ”
Bakare-Oki expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and emphasized the importance of strictly observing road safety measures. He urged cyclists to wear proper protective gear and avoid distractions, including competing with motor vehicles.
