Sources confirmed that armed Boko Haram terrorists raided the Vagirko army formed by the Vagirko Army in the Damboya Local Government Area and attacked the Gaboru Ngala Local Government Area in the Borno State in another strata. The attack took place on Monday, March 24, leaving at least two soldiers worried about death and others injured.
A source told Pioneer that the newly deployed brigade commander embarked on the Easy Explosion Device (IEDS) and mines planted by terrorists along the Maiduguri-damboa-biu Road, a source told Pioneer. Among the injured were the brigade commander, whose name had been detained.
The incident occurred when the security agency was preparing to reopen 185 kilometers of Maiduguri-Damboa-biu, which had been closed for years due to security issues. Terrorists reportedly ambushed in Wajirko and Wulgo’s troops at the same time, which led to the deportation of the troops. Although no official confirmation has been made, unverified reports indicate that some terrorists were killed during the encounter.
The Walgo army consists of a joint force of the Republic of Nigeria and Cameroon. It is located near the international border with Cameroon and is a strategic position in the region.
Following these attacks, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndum expressed deep concern about violence in southern Borno. “It’s terrible, the re-Boko Haram attacks in Borno, especially in the southern Borno Senate District. When I spoke, many communities of Gwoza, Askira-uba, Askira-uba, Chibok, Chibok, Damboa, Damboa, Biu, Biu, Hawul, etc. were suffering from a series of attacks, destruction, pillage institutions,’ Maiduguri.
The senators stressed that despite their efforts, security forces failed to effectively fight the rebellion. “While military and other security agencies are doing their best, the federal government should wake up from its sleep to end the madness by deploying complex technological wars, including drones, to address the root causes of the insurgency,” Ndume added.
He further called on the federal government to take more decisive action, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead “train, equip, arm and inspire (teams) Nigerian military and other security agencies to enable them to face terrorism, kidnapping, kidnapping, robbery, sprawling criminal activities, and other criminal activities in the Northeast, West, West, West, and general countries.”
Senator Ndume also raised concerns about the recent wave of kidnapping along Maiduguri-Damaturu-Buni-Buni Yadi-Biu Road, calling for the immediate release of Boko Haram’s still captives. He urged: “Let me also call on the federal government … to ensure the immediate release of Professor Abubaka El Juma, who was recently kidnapped with others.”
Senator remarks reported that Boko Haram terrorist attacks intensified in several areas of Borno, especially in the southern Borno, complicating efforts to reopen critical transport routes, including the Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu Road. The closure of these routes forced many travelers to take longer, more dangerous detours, exacerbating challenges facing the local population.
