The presidential palace has rebuked opposition figures and criticized President Bola Tinubu for his recent orders to command the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to release records about his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

Speaking politically today, a program aired on channel television, a special counsel for the president’s policy communication, Daniel restsThe president defended, saying that those who actually read the verdict would understand that nothing new in the record except that the records already disclosed were already known.

Judge Beryl Howell instructed the FBI and the DEA to search and process non-exempt records related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by U.S. researcher Aaron Greenspan.

Greenspan, the founder of the Legal Transparency Platform, filed 12 FOIA requests between 2022 and 2023 and sought information on the Chicago Drug Ring that operated in the early 1990s.

His request specifically sought records related to President Tinubu and three other people: Lee Andrew Edwards, Mueez Abegboyega Akande and Abiodun Agbele.

However, Bwala predicts that the information sought through these records will not provide information that is already different from that of the public domain.

He said “About the FBI and the DEA, the court said that for just in case, because documents that have been published for a long time, so you think from the exemption, there are documents that have not been published yet, please go public on May 2 and talk to us so that we can determine whether they are valid for the court.

“So there is no new thing that is really published in the court ruling. But, it’s been a long time since everything is in the public sphere. But, you know, the opposition will be willing to have a feast because without a better idea, it’s the only thing they can stick to, hopefully they might misunderstand the public.

“There’s nothing new at all. So let’s wait for the second place in May because they don’t actually have anything that hasn’t been released yet. I mean to have unnecessary conversations, as if there’s something wrong on the table.”
