Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III of Sultan has officially announced Saturday, March 1, 2025, the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Sultan announced on Friday night from his palace that it confirmed that the new moon was seen earlier on Friday, February 28, marking the 29th day of Shaban.
After extensive reports of moon sightings in different regions, the Council verified and accepted observations, formally confirming the beginning of Ramadan 1446.
The Sultan urged Muslims to use the Holy Month to pray and seek Allah’s blessing and guidance to the country and its leaders.
He also stressed the importance of charities, encouraging support for less privileges to enable them to observe fasting periods.
Muslims across Nigeria will now begin a month-long fasting, praying and dedication, confirmation by national Islamic leaders.
