Former Bristol City striker Marvin Brown has died aged 42 after suffering from terminal cancer.
He reportedly died early Monday after being moved to hospice care over the weekend. Brown has cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) and has previously battled multiple health conditions, including ulcerative colitis, sclerosing cholangitis and, in 2022, colon cancer.
Bristol City confirmed X’s death, writing:
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Marvin Brown, aged 42. Marvin joined Bristol City Academy at the age of eight and became the club’s youngest player in September 1999 at the age of 16 years and 71 days. While at the club, Marvin represented England Under-16s and Under-17s before moving to Forest Green Rovers in 2004.”
His brother, Aaron Brown, paid his heartfelt tribute on Instagram, writing:
“Today I said goodbye to my brother and my best friend Marvin. Your battle is finally over and while I have found some peace knowing you are no longer in pain, my heart is broken without you here. Life will never be the same.
You were everything a brother could want – kind, calm, ambitious, thoughtful, and always put others before yourself. You have this rare gift of making people feel seen, cared for and loved. Every room becomes brighter just by being in it. We will miss your laughter and witty one-liners. I will always love you until we meet again, brother. ”
