    Burning 12@th in Benin-Ochi Road Accident

    On March 1, at least 12 passengers were burned into the air when Toyota and a truck that occurred along the Benin-Ochi Expressway.

    Cyril Mathew, Edo division commander of the Federal Road Safety Force (FRSC), confirmed the incident, saying the crash occurred around 5 a.m. in the Ighove Obo community near the Army Checkpoint on the highway.

    According to FRSC officials, departing from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and heading to Benin to collide with the Auchi route.

    “The entire passenger of the bus was killed in the crash. The accident could be caused by fatigue, because the driver might have talked and caused the collision.” He said

    Cyril said the bus was engulfed in flames after the impact, making it impossible to save the victims.

    However, he noted that FRSC authorities were able to identify the deceased through the vehicle’s list and contact their families thereafter.

    He explained that the truck driver and his assistant were known as “Moto Boy” to escape.

    The FRSC boss once again urged drivers to avoid fatigue during long trips, suggesting that they stop and rest when they are tired to prevent similar tragedies.
