Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has sparked a nationwide debate after giving firm instructions on how he wants to be buried upon his eventual death.
Fayose, who celebrated his 65th birthday on Friday, said his body should be handed over to the Ekiti State government and buried within four weeks. He noted that burial matters must be strictly handled by state authorities together with his children.
According to him:
“When I die, my body belongs to the Ekiti State government and I have to be buried within four weeks. My children have to cooperate with the state government during the burial. I built a garden in my grandmother’s house where I want to rest and no one can go back there after that. Let me rest.”
However, his comments drew a strong response from his brother Isaac Fayose, who used the former governor’s birthday message to issue a strongly worded criticism.
Isaac described the former governor as “the most selfish brother anyone could have” and said he hoped his 65th birthday would spark a change in his character.
He added:
“You have betrayed everyone who has ever supported you…I pray that the spirit of selfishness leaves you and that you finally become a good person.”
