A woman has sparked widespread debate on social media after questioning the common practice of portraying every deceased person in a positive light, regardless of their actions while alive.
In a post that quickly gained attention, she argued that obituaries should reflect people’s true personalities, rather than automatically labeling each person who died a “gentle soul.” According to her, some people caused harm in life, including wrongdoings such as land grabbing, but were still praised after death.
“Can we normatively describe people’s true characters in obituaries? Not everyone should automatically be described as a ‘gentle soul.’ Some of these people were known for pillaging people’s lands and committing all sorts of evil acts while they were still alive,” she said.
Her comments resonated with many users, with some agreeing that death should not remove responsibility, while others believe obituaries should focus on respect for the deceased and the feelings of the grieving family.

The mother-of-one shared a video on her Snapchat showing off her latest shopping and the Hermès box she purchased.
One user took issue with her display, commenting that at her age she should be focusing on building businesses and buying properties instead of showing off luxury items.
“Haha, at this age, you are still showing off boxes of Hermès. Next year you will be 40 years old; your friends are starting businesses and buying houses. All you have done in your life is seek approval from social media.”

“Ahh no, ‘it’s fake’ again?? When I attend my collaborative book launch (author), give back (Precious Jewelry Foundation), taste and shop (BlissbyTSM showroom), sign deals, be on their TV screens, do international branding, travel, etc.
You’ll never see them, but God forbid. I acted calm, minding my own business, and their strange predictions didn’t matter; They came and blocked the whole place. You love me goodbye! “
