Coco Gauff won the first French Open Singles Championship, the second of her career, defeating World One Aryna Sabalenka from a game.
Tagged as a favorite, Coco Guaff won the game with a 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-4 victory after a fierce match between the world’s two best female tennis players.
This is Gauff’s second Grand Slam singles win in his career and also won the U.S. Open in 2023 by defeating Belarus’ Sabalenka. She is the first American to win the French Open since Serena Williams achieved this feat in 2015.
After the game, Guf expressed his excitement.
She said
“I was going through a lot of things when I got lost here three years ago. I’m so happy to be back here. I’m going through a lot of dark thoughts.”
Guaff hopes she can continue in this form when she plays in Wimbledon’s next Grand Slam later this year.
