National Youth Services Force (NYSC) member Rofiat Lawal was kidnapped Tuesday along the Benin-Oregon Expressway, and she regained her freedom after her family paid a ransom of 1.1 million.
Naija News The victim was reportedly kidnapped on her way to Ibadan in Benin, Ido State to Ibadan in Oyo State to restore her main mission.
The kidnappers are said to have demanded a redemption of 20 million yuan for extortion, which her family cannot afford.
After round-trip negotiations, the kidnappers reportedly reduced the ransom of 20 million to 5m.
Lawal’s friend (identified as Agbakwara) revealed the latest news about the incident, which she was very inconsistent with.
Agbakwara shared videos of victims in Facebook post:In the early hours of Friday, the kidnappers pressed us to warn that we should not expect her to return if we fail to meet their request.
“Desperately, I have been with all the people, her colleagues at school, the Muslim Association, her hometown friends, my fans and her family.
“Through so many collective efforts and generosity, we were able to raise 1.1 million guilds, an account sent to the kidnappers on Friday at 4:20 pm.
“Recipient Isaac Ayo claimed that his sister was also kidnapped and promised that we would pay the ransom with our own ransom.”
He said the law was finally reunited with family on Saturday morning.
“For several hours, we waited anxiously. Eventually, around 10pm, we received a long-awaited call: they had been released and taken to the hospital.
“This morning, we received another call confirming that Rofiat was on his way home and others were back at their families safely.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to all those who contribute, share the news and mark the necessary authorities. Your support makes this possible,” he concluded.
