Nigerian entrepreneur and industrialist Cosmas Maduka has compared nightlife tycoon Cubana Chiefpriest to some of the country’s richest business figures.
The latest back-and-forth comes just months after the pair were embroiled in controversy over their “Money na Water” comments, which sparked widespread discussion online.
In a statement, Maduka dismissed the comparison, calling it “empty noise” lacking substance. He stressed that he would never put himself on the same level as prominent Nigerian billionaires such as Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote.
Maduka stresses that his success is driven by determination and hard work, coming from very humble beginnings. He said he had only completed the third grade of school and described himself as a self-made “street boy.” Despite these challenges, he rose to become a board member of two listed banks in Nigeria, eventually becoming the Chairman of the Credit Committee.
He also revealed that his expertise earned him an invitation to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna and that his business now spans five continents.
Maduka believes his unique background sets him apart from others who might benefit from a better education or family support. “Don’t compare me to someone whose father offered the opportunity to get a B.S. or M.S.,” He says his achievements are the result of sheer perseverance and resilience.
In addition to his own success, Maduka also outlined his commitment to empowering others. He revealed that in 2011, he set an ambitious target to mentor 1,000 billionaires in Nigeria, noting that to date, 67 of his mentors have achieved billionaire status.
