
The District Court of the Federal Capital has granted bail to former special duties and intergovernmental minister Kabiru Turaki, a matter that follows his lawsuit against allegations of false marriage, adultery and other related crimes A 1 million guild.
Turaki, who was arraigned on Thursday, February 6, pleaded not guilty to him when he read the first information report to him in court.
The investigation is based on a petition dated August 9, 2024 and is prosecuted by the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Abuja.
According to the prosecutor, Tulaki was accused of deceptively seducing beliefs about legal marriage, adultery and criminal intimidation – a crime that violates sections 383, 387 and 389 of the Criminal Code.
“You, between December 2014 and August 2016, barrister Kabiru Taminu Turaki (San), lived in deceitful living with Ms. Hadiza Musa Bafta in a hotel called Han’s Place,” FIR said.
“You also lived with her on her ideal family holiday in Asokoro between August 2016 and November 2021. You rented an apartment in Clement Akpagbo Close in Guzape in November 2021 and made it in November 2021. She believes you are married to her. You keep having sex with her, which leads to the birth of a baby girl.
“You gave up Hadiza Musa Baffa and her children and denied the parent-child relationship. You also threatened to use your influence and location to hurt mother and child.
“So, you are suspected of committing the above crime.”
Prosecutor Chijioke Okorie demanded a trial date after the former official defended.
Instead of objecting to the prosecution’s request, the defendant’s attorney Ai Mohammed applied for bail and ensured that the court was available when needed.
Magistrate Judge Abubakar Jega awarded Turaki a bail of two of the guarantors for a total of 1 million guilds.
He ruled that the guarantor must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and provide proof of residence.
The case was adjourned until March 11.
