The federal high court in Abuja has issued an order to restrict any media interviews between Senator Natasha Akpti-Udoagen (PDP, Kogi Central) and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, while the case involving the female congresswoman is the court.
The directive was attempted to stop the Senate investigation into her plan by newly appointed Chairman Judge Binta Nyako at a hearing on the lawsuit filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Judge Nyako stressed that all parties and their legal representatives must avoid public comments or interactions with the media in any form until the matter is fully heard and determined.
“No party or attorney in this case should conduct news interviews. There is no live streaming, no social media comments. There should be no media silence.”
The case was reassigned to Justice Nyako, Chief Justice John Tsoho, who resigned after Obiora Egwuatu’s withdrawal, resigned due to prejudice raised by Senate President Akpabio.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has gone to court to prevent the Senate Ethics and Public Petition Committee from bringing disciplinary action against her.
