
A high court at Bauchi State University chaired by Justice Makama has sentenced a 36-year-old man, Umar Faruq, to five years in prison for trafficking and exploiting his 2-year-old child.
The conviction was filed by the State Command’s Ban on Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
NAPTIP confirmed in a statement on Friday, February 28, 2025 that the crime violated Article 21 (Prohibited) law enforcement and administrative regulations of Trafficking in Persons, 2015.
“Naptip Bauchi State Commands secured the belief! High Court 15 Bauchi, chaired by the Supreme Court, sentenced a 36-year-old man to five years in prison and a 2M fine to obtain a 2-year-old charge, contrary to the 2015 Trafficking of Human Resources (Forbidden) Law Enforcement Act (Forbidden).
“Under section 13(4)(c) of the same bill, he was also sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of N1M in the bill.
“These two sentences run at the same time.”
