The Ekiti State High Court sentenced two men, Anu Olaniyi and Abidemi Alibabaoye to life imprisonment for Gang-R3, a 13-year-old girl, on Tuesday.
The offender committed a crime on December 28, 2020 and was prosecuted in court for conspiracy and charges of gang R3PE.
During the hearing, the victim told the court how one of the offenders brought her to his friend’s residence, where they tricked her into her.
“I was sent to an errand on December 28, 2020, when a criminal stopped me and deliberately took me to his friend’s residence, both of whom were forcibly ignorant of me,” she said.
“I was able to admit two criminals, who were later arrested and charged to court.”
Prosecutor Julius Ajibare said the crime committed was “violation of Article 421 of the Ekiti National Criminal Code, Article 2021 and Article 2(2)(c) based on the Ekiti National Gender Violence (Injunction) (First Amendment), 2020, 2020″”.
Ajibare called four witnesses and provided seven exhibitions for the case that supported him.
But the defendant, speaking through lawyer Oluwafemi Alonge, provided evidence in his defense and did not appeal to witnesses.
In the verdict, Judge Adekunle Adeleye ruled: “The prosecution proved Gangr3pe’s crime and conspiracy against the defendants are undoubtedly.”
Therefore, the judge convicted the defendant and sentenced everyone to life imprisonment for the gangster R3PE and was sentenced to two years in prison.
