Dani Olmo and Pau Victor are officially eligible for the remainder of the season, according to a recent ruling from the Spanish National Sports Commission (CSD).
Last summer, La Liga temporarily granted Barcelona licenses to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. However, those approvals were subsequently revoked when La Liga asserted that the club failed to comply with the league’s strict financial regulations by the deadline set by December 31.
When Barcelona filed for withdrawal, the situation escalated, resulting in CSD allowing players to be temporarily restored in January.
La Liga responded on Wednesday by pointing out that Barcelona currently lacked the financial stability needed to successfully register two strikers.
In the events that largely occurred, CSD invalidated the early agreement between La Liga and the Royal Football Federation of Spain (RFEF), emphasizing that both players’ registrations were valid.
CSD stressed that RFEF acknowledged that it has not issued a resolution to prove the cancellation of the license. Additionally, RFEF’s previous decision to deny licenses has been declared “invalid and invalid”.
In view of these developments, La Liga announced its intention to appeal the CSD’s ruling. The announcement came after La Liga issued a statement showing that Barcelona’s salary cap was lowered due to differences found by the club in year-end accounting for the 2024-25 season.
To revolve around financial restrictions and comply with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, Barcelona launched an agreement on January 3 to sell VIP boxes on its iconic Nou Camp Stadium, the pastoral is currently being rebuilt.
The club aims to generate €100 million from the program to ensure compliance and to ensure registration of Olmo and Victor. However, La Liga asserted that Barcelona did not properly record the transaction in its financial account filed last week, noting that the transaction had been verified by an alternative, unnamed auditor.
Dani Olmo, a product from Barcelona’s prestigious Youth Academy, left the club to play for Dinamo Zagreb and RB Leipzig, and then brought back for £52 million last summer.
Since the CSD decision, he has made 28 appearances for the team this season and has participated in 13 games. Similarly, Pau Victor has also developed through Barcelona’s famous La Masia Academy, which has played 22 times in the semester, five of which came after the latest ruling.
