Afrobeats star Davido offers one of the humorous but insightful explanations in his hit tracks funds.
In an interview with Mixmag, the artist clarifies what this line means “I want to move, but I’ll go buy Belgium,” This has attracted the curiosity of fans since the song was released.
Davido revealed that the line reflects a common situation in which some people believe that relocation is due to financial restrictions. “Do you know when you’re somewhere and you’re planning to move because you can’t afford the price of living in that place?” He explained. “But God bless you, you hammer [suddenly come into a lot of money]so you are saying, “I want to move because there is no money, but now I have enough money to buy Belgium.”
When asked why he specifically mentioned Belgium, Davido chuckled and replied: “I have no idea!” It seems that Belgium’s choice is more about expressing sudden, almost surreal wealth than any particular connection to the country itself.
