

Nigerian music star David Adeleke (commonly known as Davido) reveals how many artists can earn in performing in private events such as naming rituals.

Davido explains that personal activities by wealthy families hiring big-name artists are common practice, such as naming rituals that compare it to Indian culture, where celebrities are often invited to grace weddings, birthdays and other celebrations.
“You can book a naming ceremony – $400,000,” Davido said partly. “Just like in India; they are always celebrating everything. Once you do your wedding or birthday, especially if you have money, the main thing is to invite a big artist.”
His revelation has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians surprised by the astonishing performance fees, while others noted that it reflects the luxury lifestyle of the country’s elite.
