In a major political transition, Delta Governor Rt. honor. Sheriff Oborevwori has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major restructuring of the state’s political landscape.
Arise TV reported that the development was confirmed Wednesday night after a closed-door meeting at the Asaba government building on Wednesday night. Sir Festus Ahon, the governor’s chief press secretary, said the decision came after “after extensive consultations with political stakeholders, in the interests of Delta’s long-term development.”
Oborevwori, who won the 2023 governoral election on the PDP platform, said it showed a high-profile improvement in the ruling party. Political analysts have begun to describe the move as a strategic repositioning ahead of the 2027 election and a potential ripple effect across the South-South region.
