Former Kogisi Senator Dino Melaye has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is showing signs of restlessness as the 2027 general elections approach.
Melaye stressed that although the party controls 31 governorships across the country, it still opposes the electronic transmission of election results.
In an X post on Tuesday, he mocked the ruling party, suggesting its reluctance reflected insecurity and a lack of confidence. He noted that despite its broad dominance, the APC appeared hesitant to support measures to increase electoral transparency.
“APC is doing electronic registration for members but does not want the results to be transmitted electronically. There are 31 governors and they are still scared,” he wrote.
Melaye further suggested that the Senate’s refusal to support proposed electoral reforms was indicative of deeper problems within the party, hinting at internal instability and the need for electoral integrity.
“The implosion is imminent, the explosion is inevitable. The end of the road. The votes must count,” he added.
His comments came as protests in Abuja escalated, with demonstrators criticizing the Senate for not amending the Electoral Act to allow for immediate electronic reporting of election results.
