A doctor was sentenced to jail for secretly installing a spy camera in a bathroom air freshener because he wanted to compare his “little pen! S” to other men.
Yu Young UM, 34, secretly recorded more than 24 people in more than three years because they went to the toilets where Airbnb in Scotland and employees stayed.
The official office said it was convicted of 23 charges in April after the trial at the Glasgow Sheriff’s Court and was sentenced to 18 months in jail on Thursday.
Prosecutors told Yu Youn Um how he installed the camera on his property in the Glasgow Highland area, which he partially rented.
The truth only emerged when one victim noticed that two air fresheners seemed to face the toilet and shower, prosecutors said.
After careful inspection, a hidden camera was found in the plastic container, and a further search revealed a third device in the smoke alarm.
The victim contacted the police, and the camera was seized along with a cell phone, laptop and storage device, which contained recordings of several people.
Yu Young UM was also convicted of a person who filmed secretly in private situations in the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
Fraser Gibson, prosecutor of Glasgow and Straskelvin, said: “Ju Young Um has committed these invasive crimes in a calculated and premeditated manner.
“He abused the stance of trust to greatly invade the privacy of many people because of his own sexual satisfaction.
“I thank everyone involved in the prosecution, which holds him accountable to others while also protecting others from harm.
“We will continue to act on those responsible for this crime as we work to ensure the safety of the communities we serve.”
The crime occurred between November 2020 and August 2024.
In his evidence, the criminal said he was diagnosed with a “suspected giant”, which may be the reason why he had a “little penis”.
Yu Young UM will continue to receive a nine-month permit after his release from prison, during which time he will be closely monitored and supervised.
His name has been added to the S£X criminal registry for 10 years.
There were 21 men and nine women in total, four of whom were doctors, photographed by Yu Younm, who was diagnosed with a form of physical deformity after being arrested.
The 34-year-old initially used his cell phone to secretly record his first victim through a window while in the shower, but then decided to put it in gear and attach the camera to the smoke alarm in the doctor’s bedroom.
A medical worker said he was “shocked and betrayed” when he was shooting at his toilet at Yu Yum’s home in the Hyndland area of Glasgow after dinner.
Another person had 9 recordings over three months and used the toilet in three months.
Ju Young UM said he didn’t seek medical help until 20 years after being diagnosed with the same-sized ones. Later, he was suspended as a doctor, and his lawyer told the sentencing that his client knew “he caused harm and distress to the victim” and admitted that his crime was “morally wrong.”
Sheriff Owen Mullan told Ju Young Um that his actions reached the threshold for custody sentences due to “the shock and distress suffered by the victim.”
Cameron Gilchrist, a detective sergeant from the Scottish Police Department, said: “Ju Young Um is now facing the consequences of his mean and painful actions.
“Our minds remain victims of privacy violations. We hope his verdict will bring them some comfort.
Criminal crimes of any nature are not tolerated, and no matter how much time has passed, we will thoroughly investigate any reports made to us.
“I urge people to come forward and you can make sure you have the full support of officials and our partner agencies.”
