    • Drama erupted at the funeral of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi when a man claiming to be the father of her children called the funeral to say he had been denied access to the children for years.
    • The daughter did not answer the call herself. A family member reportedly put the phone on speaker so she could hear as emotions ran high.
    • The emotional appeal has since sparked mixed reactions online.

Mourners at the funeral of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi were reportedly shocked when a man claiming to be the biological father of her child surfaced in an emotional phone call.

In a video that went viral, the incident occurred during a funeral, where family, friends and well-wishers dressed in white gathered to lay the singer to rest.

The man reportedly called during the funeral to say he wanted to pay his last respects to Omije Ojumi before speaking to the children. During the phone call, he introduced himself as their father and claimed he had been looking for them for years but had been rejected multiple times by their mother.

    In his words:

“I am your father and I have been looking for you. If you still remember, I called you and told you about your student days on the front line.

I spoke to you through the school hotline and told you not to tell your mom because she wouldn’t let me talk to you. I don’t know how she knew, but she led the police and arrested all the teachers in the school. “

The daughter did not answer the call herself. A family member reportedly put the phone on speaker so she could hear as emotions ran high.

The unexpected moment caused palpable discomfort among mourners, with many appearing uneasy about raising such a sensitive issue at a funeral.

The incident subsequently sparked heated discussion online, with many questioning the timing of the call, while others expressed sympathy for the troubled children.

Omije Ojumi’s death after a long illness was laid to rest amid tears, tributes and emotional moments celebrating her life, music and sacrifice as a mother.
