Ministry of State Services (DSS) arrests Austin, Kogi-born political activist and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief, on orders by Kogi-State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo Okai).
According to a journalist in the Sahara Sahara desert, armed security agents attacked Okai’s residence in Abuja on Wednesday morning and took him away.
The reason for the arrest of the PDP chief is unclear, but sources who spoke to the above publication suggest that this may be related to his voice criticism of the Kogi State government.
Okai is a known opposition figure who often opposes government policies and governance.
As of the time of submission of the report, DSS has not issued any official statement regarding Okai’s detention.
Okai’s wife told the publishing operation that DSS had no warrant for arrest during the operation.
She said:They did not have an arrest warrant to arrest him at our home in Abuja. In fact, they ransacked our house and forced themselves into it.
“I asked them to provide an arrest warrant, but no one could provide it. They just knew they wanted to take him. They claimed they needed him for interrogation, so I asked, “If you need someone to ask, do you invite him, he Rejected? Where is your warrant? There is nothing to show.
“They took him away, and I don’t even know the degree of harassment he was facing. They also took his gadgets.”
