A recall process has been initiated against Senator Neda Imasuen, who represents the Edominic Senate District.
On Friday, March 28, voters in the Edonan Senator District and the human rights community lost confidence in Imasuen’s responsibility for alleged corruption, abuse of positions, failure and betrayal of public trust.
Voters and their allies in the human rights community have also demanded a lawsuit against Imashen, a question that led to the cancellation of the New York Supreme Court in 2010.
Voters added: “Given the international nature of these allegations, Interpol cooperation is necessary to ensure a thorough, independent and global investigation.”
Representatives of five of the seven local governments in the Senate District revealed the move in a media briefing in the Edo state capital city of Benin on Friday.
The group said voters should be represented in the Senate with credible, responsible and transparent.
Representatives of local governments who initiated the recall process include Kola Edokpayi (Oredo), Caesar Garrick (Ikpoba-Okha), Anghatise Raphael (Ovia South West), Ogbu David (Uhunwode), Okorie Kingsley (Okorie Kingsley) (Okorie Kingsley) (Ovia North East) and Hanson Orako (Ovia Kingsley) (Ovia Kingsley).
The group claims that Imasuen, chairman of the Senate Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petition Committee, has no constituency projects in his Senate area, said he has distanced himself from the people.
Therefore, voters have issued 14-day notices to the Independent National Election Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Senate and the anti-transplant agency in response to their petitions.
Imasuen responded, dismissing the allegations, saying those who opposed him were recently invited to Kogi State.
“They are working on axe because they are paying from Kogi. I don’t understand why someone is being paid to throw stones in his father’s house,” he said.
As chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee, Imasun chaired the panel, recommending the senator to suspend his six-month representation of Kogi Central, Natasha Akputti Akputti Uduagen.
The senator has always refused comments about alleged financial fraud and allegedly convicted accomplices involved.
It is said that he committed New York crime in the United States sometime between 2010 and 2012.
