The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of former Minister of Petroleum Resources and former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva.
Silva is wanted on suspicion of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257 ($14 million, $859,000, $2 million) and US$57), is part of the funds infused by the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refining and Petrochemicals Limited for the construction of the refinery.
The commission obtained an arrest warrant against the former minister on November 6, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Lagos. The order, granted by Justice DI Dipeolu, stated that “a warrant of arrest is issued against the applicant or any officer of the Commission, police or any law enforcement officer for the arrest of the accused for the purpose of bringing him before the Commission to answer the question of the criminal offense with which he is accused.”
The committee also asked anyone with useful information about his whereabouts to contact any divisional bureau or the nearest police station and other security agencies across the country.
