- The brother is reportedly demanding between £500,000 and £1 million on the grounds that his sister is wealthy from working abroad.
- The woman explained the reality of her limited income (£230,000 a month) and poor living conditions, saying she even slept in her employer’s kitchen.

A young Nigerian woman working in Cairo, Egypt, has expressed her dismay after her brother refused her £50,000 to provide emergency medical care for his wife, insisting she expected a higher amount simply because he mistakenly believed she was “abroad”.
The woman, the youngest of seven children, explained that despite her limited income, she immediately did what she could after her brother urgently sought financial assistance to take his wife to the hospital.
However, her brother dismissed the amount, arguing that her financial resources were much greater than she claimed. This woman details the harsh realities of her living and working conditions to counter false assumptions about affluence:
“I come from a family of seven and I am the last one. My brother’s wife was sick and he begged that he needed money to take her to the hospital. I sent this guy N50,000. He said he expected to receive between N500,000 and N1 million.”
She further elaborated on the gap between her reality and his expectations:
“Where do I want to see me? They think, like I’m abroad, I see money. I’m just Egypt. I’m doing housework in Cairo. I sleep in the kitchen, my bag is in the kitchen. I pick money trees. The worst thing is, someone is sponsoring me here and I’ve just paid.”
The woman revealed her financial woes, noting that she earns around £230,000 a month and had recently paid off debt from a trip sponsorship, leaving her with very little savings.
