
In a joint operation with the National Signal Bureau (NSB) and the Nigerian Police Force, the Ghana Police Department successfully rescued two female victims who were kidnapped and appeared in viral videos.
Disturbing videos widely circulated on social media showed one of the victims being attacked by a machete while naked. The video triggered a public alarm and prompted security agencies to act quickly.
The kidnapper posted two other videos of the kidnapping of women, nude and nude.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, May 2, 2025, Ghana police confirmed the victim’s rescue and announced that eight suspects were arrested for kidnapping.
The arrests were conducted at various hiding places in Ghana and Nigeria.
Kidnapping group Okoribe Olohitare Ejeme, one of the female employees of Harcourt International Airport Security (AVSEC), was arrested Thursday.
Ms. Ejeme’s arrest was through a cooperation between the National Signal Service (NSB) and the Ghana Police Department, the Nigerian Police Force.
“The Ghana Police Department, in collaboration with the National Signal Service (NSB) and the Nigerian Police Force, has rescued two female victims of the kidnapping captured in the video,” the statement said.
“So far, eight (8) suspects have been arrested for crimes related to their hiding places in Ghana and Nigeria.
“Further details will be shared in due course.
The statement added: “The Ghana Police Department is very grateful to the NSB and the Nigerian Police Force for their cooperation and support in the rescue and arrest operations.”
One of the victims was identified as 39-year-old Ama Serwaa Konadu, a famous hairdresser and event decorator in Asiakwa in the city of Abuakwa South in the eastern region, and was kidnapped on April 22, 2025. She reportedly left her home while being captured by an unknown male.
The next day, her kidnapper used her cell phone to send multiple nude photos to her family, demanding a ransom of 500,000. In the video, she appears to be severely traumatized and proves to be physically attacked.
The victim’s family filed formal complaints with the Ghanaian police and other national security agencies, and they quickly began the investigation with the support of Nigerian authorities.
