Embattled spokesman Mojisola Meranda denied invitation to DSS to seal the Lagos Congress.
Nigeria News Nalin The report said the Lagos State Council Office clarified that the parliament invited the State Department (DSS) to take over the venue.
The clarification comes after the incident on Monday, February 17, 2025, when armed DSS officials stormed into the General Assembly, preventing Speaker Mojisola Meranda and other members from holding a plenary meeting.
The situation caused a commotion when staff and lawmakers forced a meeting to hold meetings. After about 35 minutes of deliberation, speaker Meranda postponed the meeting indefinitely.
The speaker’s anonymous assistant explained that the letter sent by the conference was misunderstood. This is a daily requirement for security improvements that poses a security threat after deleting information that Mudashiru Obasa may have attempted to restore on February 18, 2025. This letter requires additional security personnel not to seal offices or rooms.
“The DSS action on Monday deviated from the original intention. They hijacked the situation and blocked the legislative chambers and offices of some of the key officials. It seems they received notes from another source.”
The component does not invite DSS to seal the chamber or office.
