The 31-year-old centre-back, who loaned Bayern from Totterham Hotspur in January 2024, then took permanent action in the summer, told the club that he would not extend his deal.
“We have talked with Eric about potential contract extensions,” said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund. “He told us he won’t be extending his time with Bayern and he will leave the club at the end of the season.”
While Deere’s current deal lasts until June 30, Bayern Munich is reportedly exploring the possibility of a short-term extension, including him in the team at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States from June 14 to July 13.
Deer initially signed to provide the depth of the central defense, quickly becoming a starter with Matthijs de Ligt under former manager Thomas Tuchel. Despite his appearance being restricted by current head coach Vincent Kompany, Dier remains a key squad member, effectively taking steps during the injuries of defenders Kim Min-Jae and Dayot Upamecano.
Freund praised England International for its contribution. “We had a great time with Eric and I hope he can win the title of Bayern,” he said.
According to reports from French and German media, Dier is expected to sign a long-term contract with the Ligue 1 team, as Monaco may continue until the summer of 2027. Dier, who has been restricted by England for 49 times, will seek to revitalize his career by moving into the next chapter of regular first-team football.
