A newborn baby girl was rescued after being found buried in a farmland in Kamba in Dandi local government area of Kebbi state.

The discovery was made on June 27, 2025 by a farmer identified as Malam Kabiru Kamba, who was working on his land when he discovered a pile of suspicious soil. On the unusual sight, he announced the help of motorcyclists to help dig the area.

When they dug, they found a piece of cloth, prompting Kabiru to notify nearby police immediately. The officer quickly arrived at the scene and continued excavation, eventually finding a crying baby girl buried underground.

The baby is miraculously still alive and quickly taken care of. After that, authorities began an investigation to determine who is responsible for the Shocking Act.

In response to this incident, the Kebi State Government has worked through a technical working group on gender-based violence to inform the state’s first lady, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Idris, to ensure further intervention, support and protection of the children.
