Minister of Aeronautics and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo announced that Ibom Air has withdrawn the case against Comfort Emmanson, paving the way for her release from custody.
Keyamo also revealed that the Civil Aviation Administration of Nigeria (NCAA) will cut a one-year ban on Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde (commonly known as Kwam 1) to one month. The decision follows consultations with key stakeholders in the aviation sector regarding incidents involving unruly conduct at the airport.
Nigeria’s airline operator (AON) has agreed to lift the lifelong flight ban imposed earlier on Amson, and the NCAA will restore the licence of pilots involved in the KWAM 1 case after completing a month-long suspension and mandatory professional professionals.
According to Keyamo, Emmanson was arrested in an incident on an IBOM air flight on August 10, 2025, showing “great remorse” when the police attorney asked in front of the lawyer. He said the withdrawal of the complaint from Ibom Air will allow police to release her from Kirikiri Paind this week.
It read in part: “After the complainant withdraws the complaint, the Airport Command and the Police Prosecutor will immediately take the remaining steps to facilitate her release from the Kirikiri prison within this week.
“I also held a call with leaders of Nigerian Airlines (AON) airline operators and called on them to lift the lifelong flight ban she agreed to. Details of the resolution will be published by AON later.”
In the case of Kwam1, the minister said that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will work with musicians to increase airport safety awareness. The NCAA also agreed to withdraw the criminal proceedings against him.
