Livestock Development Minister Idi Mukhtar Maiha said the ministry plans to mark animals in the country and digitize cattle routes.

Naija News Maiha reportedly stated this on Friday in a ministerial briefing in Abuja on Friday.

The minister said the government will establish a genetic library where local animals will store native native genes.

“We laid the foundation for the livestock revolution! From better animal breeds and sanitation systems to the Nigeria-Lostok Master Plan (N-LMP).

“We are developing policies that attract investment and empower farmers with competence and knowledge.

“We are already talking to institutions to create genetics libraries where we can store all local native genes for resilience to resist disease,” he said. He said.

The livestock minister explained that all cattle routes would be linked to border controls and to manage diseases imported from other countries.

“We are digitizing the cattle routes to understand their location, and they all link border controls together to manage diseases imported from border countries because we have routes from neighboring countries.

“Animal numbers are allowed by written permission, which will be performed,He said.

According to him, the animals will be marked to solve the traceability problem. He added that the Forage Organization will be carried out along with the Ministry’s plans.

“The traceability issues targeting health challenges are important, which is why we need to mark animals. We should be able to track every piece of meat you buy from the groceries.

“The forage organization leaders will be invited to inform them of our plans and bring them on board, and we will join them as our interest holders,He added.
