Minister of Engineering Senator David Umahi has directed the immediate reopening of the independent bridge in Lagos for vehicle traffic.
The minister issued directives on Wednesday following a massive traffic stalemate from Lekki to Victoria Island to Falomo Bridge and beyond.
The directive follows bridges closed earlier by the federal government for planned maintenance and rehabilitation efforts.
However, yesterday’s repairs began to cause major traffic with Lagos residents spending hours on the road.
Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the controller of federal work, confirmed the latest developments Wednesday night.
She expressed regret to the Ministry of Engineering for the inconvenience caused by the inconvenience and called on their understanding and cooperation
According to her, efforts are currently being made to ensure palliative works are carried out on the already open bridge to make it motorized.
