FG vows to conduct NNPCL forensic audit under Mele Kyari.
Nigeria News Nalin According to reports, the Nigerian federal government through Finance Minister Wale Edun, explaining that forensic audits of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) are inevitable to know the operations of state-owned companies in the past few years.
The Nigerian news platform learned that bystanders at the IMF/World Bank spring meeting in Washington, D.C., who spoke at the Nigerian Investor Forum, said the recent re-examination of NNPCL administration is part of the federal government and part of the federal government has committed to reviewing the company.
The minister stressed to a group of investors attracted by prominent global financial institutions, including JP Morgan, including JP Morgan, that the federal government has implemented critical reforms to reset the economy and restore confidence.
This is because Edun told foreign investors that the Nigerian government has laid the foundation for its speech reforms that will make the country a desired destination for private investors.
He further stressed that Nigeria is reaching 7% annual growth, requiring investment in infrastructure, manufacturing and agriculture.
“Forensic review of NNPCL is underway, so we can really understand what happened in the past. So far, there are reconciliation exercises in progress.
“Because the fact is that, as we all know, the cancellation of fuel subsidies was announced on May 29, 2023, but it took some time to achieve.
“This part of the burden is transferred from the government’s budget to the NNPCL. So they have legal claims and need to give them some owed money.
“But that’s two sides. Reconciliation is underway. The most important thing is that NNPCL needs to come to the table with more oil production, more dollar revenues and more revenues to the federal ones. That’s the task they’re given, and I think they’ll deliver.”
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu fired Mele Kyari and Chairman Pius Akinyelure on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, as CEO and chairman of NNPCL Group.
Tinubu replaced them with Bayo Ojulari and Ahmadu Musa Kida.
Nigeria News Nalin Know that there is a call for Kyari investigation.
